Weekly Update 12/10/2018

Good afternoon, parents! Only one and a half more weeks of school until Christmas vacation!

We have a few updates for this week:

First, I would like to give you a revision on the homework for this week (and for the future in general). For our skills practice pages, the directions have been to have the student simply write the correct letter under the pictures that begin with that letter. I would like to ask that you have your child attempt to write out the whole word on their own… we have been working very hard on our blending and segmenting and I know they all have the ability to do this. If time does not permit this, it will be fine for them to simply put the letter but at this point in the year we should really be perfecting our handwriting and spelling skills. In addition to this, it is ok if your child spells something incorrectly as long as they have phonetically sounded it out (ex: spelling “book” as “buk”). The point of this activity is to help them develop their skill of sounding out letters- correct spelling will come in later years. Thank you!

We have our Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe Liturgy this Wednesday at 11:00 am in the chapel if you are available to join us for this very special mass. All are welcome!

As you know, we will be having our Christmas party in our classroom next Wednesday, December 19th, from 2:00-3:00 pm. You are more than welcome to attend, but please remember it is still a normal carpool day so carpool rules need to continue to be followed. I will have Adrienne follow up with more information on treats and activities.

We will be asking each family for a small contribution to go towards costumes and accessories for the Christmas play. I will send more details later in the week.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to email. Have a great week!
