School Closure Update and Details for TK/Kindergarten

Good morning parents,

I would like to begin by thanking you all for your continued support and patience as we navigate through this difficult time. Although it is going to be hard not to see those thirteen smiling faces for the next three weeks, this is a necessary step we all must take to ensure the continued health of the ones we love.

As you read in Sister Carmen’s letter, our faculty and staff have dedicated time to planning lessons and activities for students to complete in order to continue their education while they are at home. These materials should be picked up on Tuesday, March 17th (please refer to the letter from Sister Carmen which details your designated pick-up time). I understand that at the TK/kindergarten level, this will require more effort on your part to work with them through the activities I have organized. As most of you will be working from home, I am empathetic to the fact that this may be difficult for some of you to do. I am working on recording lessons that will, hopefully, reduce that load.

Additionally, as each of you were given codes to our education.com program two weeks ago, you already have resources at your fingertips to engage your student in continued learning. As it is set-up to move from lesson to lesson with game-like activities, your student can complete a few activities each day in both language arts and math for extra support. I also recommend looking into getting a parent account for the website gonoodle.com, which engages students in fun, interactive body-movement activities from guided dances and meditation breathing to “indoor recess” videos- these activities are a part of our daily routine in class, so I am sure the kids will love being able to do them at home.

Finally, I will be available by email throughout this time if you have any questions. For those of you with google accounts, I will be utilizing the “google hangouts” tool where you can video-chat or message between users- if your student is struggling with any homework or activity, please do not hesitate to email me and we can set up a time to meet.

I would like to end by extending a very deep thank you. This situation is one we have never had to navigate before, and your continued support as we make arrangements is going to make a world of difference for the success of your child. Each student is going to be sent with a very special prayer card to use during this trying time. Please take this time with your family to reflect on the blessings given to us, continue with prayer, and stay healthy! As always, do not hesitate to email me with any questions.
