Kindness

Dear Salesian Family,

Every month we select a virtue for our student body to practice. This month, our daily morning message focuses on the virtue of Kindness.

Have you heard someone say, “You’ve made my day!”?

With a small but simple gesture of respect, compassion, or goodness, we can touch someone’s life forever. Even a small expression of kindness is packed with a meaningful extension of God’s spirit within us.

Kindness is something very special. The dictionary defines it as, "being friendly, considerate, and generous". Kindness brings joy to the person who expresses it. When we reach out to someone with compassion in an act of kindness, we bring joy both to the receiver and to ourselves.

When we feel down-and-out, or simply ‘yucky’ we can get ourselves out of this mood by stepping out of our comfort zone to do something special for another person. We will feel our level of stress and anxiety decrease. These acts will also boost our self-esteem. Our actions will encourage others to pass them on, thereby creating a positive and loving community. It is good to look around and notice what accomplishments others have made. We can celebrate the moment, and soon others will be inspired to do the same. Discover the joy of being attentive and sharing kindness.

Allow God to work wonders within you and through you!

God bless,

Sr. Carmen, FMA
