Who is your inspiration?

Dear Salesian Family,

We have all had to make important decisions in life. We may have felt a gentle nudge, or a tug to help us keep moving closer toward our goal. Often a role model, a mentor, or a hero was there for us. Was it a parent, a teacher, or maybe a dear friend? It may have been the genuine quality of that particular person, caring so deeply and encouraging us to become who we are today.

It now becomes our responsibility to be beacons of light that shine and inspire others; particularly the young. We are living in critical times where our young people need us more than ever. They are anxious and stressed about simple things, which cause them to lose focus. Our persistent compassion, care, and understanding demonstrates our open heart. We are willing to receive their confidence with love, and a sincere desire to alleviate their unrest. Our joyful presence is a witness that guides the young to respond to a brighter vision. All this, because you took the time to give a little nudge of encouragement for a young person to develop a deeper belief in themselves.

Whose life have I touched in a positive way? How often have I taken the time to say to a child, “I see something very special in you.”?

God bless,

Sr. Carmen, FMA
